Two Weeks in Europe

Alex and I were very fortunate to travel to Europe for two weeks the end of February and first of March. We traveled to Brussels, Florence, Rome, and Paris. We were able to visit three countries while we were there. I have never had so much fun! We spent some time in Brussels with Alex's parents at their apartment since Richard was there temporarily. Here's some pictures from Brussels...

Alex and I ventured out on or own to Florence and Rome. We flew out of Brussels to Florence and spent a couple of nights. Florence was beautiful! It's located in the Tuscany region of Italy. We flew into a very small airport surrounded by gorgeous mountains. On our flight over, we were able to fly over the Swiss Alps! It was so pretty...I've never seen so much snow in my life. We stayed at a quaint bed and breakfast called Hotel Casci right in the middle of Florence that was ran by a very nice Italian family. They made breakfast for us every morning and had the best cappuccinos! They told us the best places to eat. They were wonderful! We had a great time in Florence! It's one of my favorite places! My favorite site in Florence was the statue of David. It was AMAZING! It's much bigger than I thought it was. Unfortunately, they wouldn't let you take pictures of David, so I don't have any to show you. Here are some pictures from our stay in Florence...

Alex and I took a train through the countryside from Florence to Rome. The scenery was beautiful! We stayed in Rome for three nights at a bed & breakfast called the Nicolas Inn. The wife was from the US and the husband was from Italy. They were very nice and welcoming! Since she was American, she was able to better understand us and give us directions everywhere! Rome was a lot of fun! My favorite part was the Vatican, Trevi Fountain, and the Roman Ruins! Here are some pictures from Rome..

The Vatican was AMAZING!

Tossing a coin into the Tevi Fountain. If you do this, you are destined to return one day!

The hall leading to the Sistine Chapel. Everything, floor to ceiling was painted. It was amazing! We weren't allowed to take pictures in the actual chapel.

Eating yummy chocolate gelato! I miss italian gelato!

After our awesome trip to Rome, we took a train ride back to Florence and flew into Brussels. We stayed in Brussels for one night, then ventured out again to PARIS! I adored Paris...it was definitely on of the highlights of the trip for me! We only stayed in Paris for one night. We stayed at the Hidden Hotel, which I would highly recommend if you are traveling to Paris. It was the coolest hotel! They're all about natural elements. It's located right at the Arc de Triomphe and Champs Elysees. Here are some pictures of our room...

We loved the rock sink!

We had a great stay in Paris. We visited the Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower, The Louvre, Notre Dame Cathedral, and the Champs Elysees, just to name a few! Paris was a very beautiful city. I will always remember our visit to Paris because it's where we got engaged! It is the most romantic city in the world! Alex proposed the night of March 2nd in our hotel room after a romantic walk from seeing the Eiffel Tower lit up and sparkling in the night sky! Hopefully, we'll get to go back to Paris one day since it is a very special city for the two of us. Here are a few Paris pictures...

Arc de Triomphe: My favorite Paris landmark!

Eiffel Tower

On top of the Eiffel Tower...such a pretty view of the city!

Right before he proposed!

I hope Alex and I will be able to travel a lot more throughout the years. I love traveling to new places! We had so much fun on our trip and saw a lot of historical landmarks and sites. I guess our next adventure will be to Jamaica! I can't wait!

  1. Hey Meagan...I don't know if I have said it yet, but CONGRATULATIONS. I love your blog thus far. The legend of returning to Rome if you toss a coin is totally legit. I tossed one in high school with Mrs. Shire and I went back two summers ago...I LOVE Europe. Paris is the one place I haven't been that I am dying to visit. Next year.. I am planning a trip there. You should follow my blogs too..I currently have a good blog with my roommate about eating our way around the world in the Big Apple... findingourinnerfoodie.blogspot.com
